For pupils at the end of year 1 of Key Stage 1, the teachers will conduct Phonics screening checks to assess if the child falls below, within or above the national standard.
In year 2 of key Stage 1, children are formally introduced to English, Maths and Science as specific subjects. They will take their Key Stage 1 SATS tests at any time throughout May in Maths, English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
The Key stage 1 National tests are administered and assessed internally by the school.
Students in School year 1 & 2 are typically enrolled in our 'AMOR ' Tuition Group.
However, we will assess each student when they join us and termly to ensure they are in the most appropriate Group.
Within all the Group's more able students are given more challenging class and home work and have the opportunity to move up Group's based on ability not age.
Students who need more support, are assisted by our support staff and allowed to work at a slower pace but are continously encouraged and challenged.
Key stage 2 covers the rest of your child’s primary school years (school year 3, 4, 5 & 6). Children at the end of key stage 2 (school year 6), typically aged 11, will take tests on set days in the week beginning 14 May in English grammar, punctuation and spelling, English reading and Maths.

There are strict deadlines for registration and exams are usually at the start of school year 6. If you are considering a grammar school, please discuss this with us as soon as possible.
We also provide Exam Booster classes for SATS (school year 5 & 6) and GCSE (school year 10 & 11). The Exam Booster classes are in addition to the normal classes we deliver.
The booster and 11 plus sessions are very useful for exam preparation as they focus on specific exam techiques, timing, past exam papers. Tests are all marked and fedback to students with a progress report on achieved areas and areas for development.
We also hold mock exams in a stimulated exam environment to help students overcome some of the pressures and anxiety this environment may cause.
